Rep. Baird Rejects Biden's Pro-Abortion, Pro-Illegal Immigration 2024 Spending Plan

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) released the following statement after voting against H.Res. 1102, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, for its failure to deliver a responsible federal budget and secure the southern border. “Washington’s spending addiction has spiraled completely out of control,” said Rep. Baird. “This latest deal cooked up by Washington insiders continues to fund many of Biden’s most woke and wasteful policies while failing to protect Americans from the dangers of an open border. While I support initiatives, such as giving members of the military a pay raise and increasing our military’s lethality, these did not outweigh my concerns about pro-abortion provisions in the package and sending more taxpayer money to Ukraine. The people of Indiana sent me to Washington to ensure their tax dollars are spent wisely, not continue business as usual. I’m proud to uphold my commitment to fiscal responsibility and reject this flawed spending deal that was overwhelmingly supported by Biden’s allies in Congress.” |
