Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 7463, which would temporarily extend existing government spending. The current level of federal spending was set by Democrats when they controlled the House in 2022. “We cannot continue kicking the can down the road in Washington with temporary funding schemes that don’t deliver on the promises Republicans made to the American people,” said Rep. Baird. “This latest spending deal continues to fund Joe Biden’s broken policies and fails to take any meaningful action to secure the border. The House has passed multiple temporary spending measures to allow for more time to negotiate. This strategy is not working. We must pass a responsible budget that ends Washington’s spending addiction and secures the border.” |
