House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) announced Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) will serve as an outside conferee on the House-Senate Conference Committee to resolve bicameral differences in the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).  Congressman Baird is the only Republican selected from the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee to help negotiate the defense bill.

“Jim has worn many hats in his life dedicated to the service of others. Whether it be that of a pig farmer, a scientist, an infantryman, a state representative, or now a U.S. Congressman, Jim’s commitment to this nation has been unwavering. The unique and challenging experiences he’s faced, including his time spent serving in Vietnam, will allow Jim to personally understand the similarly unique and challenging issues our Department of Defense faces today. Jim, a Purple Heart recipient, will act with our military’s best interests at heart and will be an important voice in such important NDAA discussions.”, said Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23).
