Congressman Baird Welcomes 2019 Congressional Art Competition Winner to Washington

Congressman Jim Baird (R-IN-04) today welcomed Catherine Caes, a student at Bethesda Christian School in Hendricks County and winner of the 2019 4th District Congressional Art Competition, to the U.S. Capitol. The winners of this year’s competition attended a reception in Washington, D.C. honoring their achievements. “We welcome Catherine to our nation’s capital, and I congratulate her on winning the 2019 4th District Congressional Art Competition. Her creativity demonstrates what this competition is all about, and I am proud to showcase her work for the next year in the Capitol,” said Congressman Baird. Background: Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. All entries for the Congressional Art Competition must be original in concept, design and execution, and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Entries may be paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography.
