Congressman Baird Encourages Submissions for 2019 Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Jim Baird (R-IN-04) encourages high school students from Indiana’s 4th Congressional District to submit artwork for the 2019 Congressional Art Competition sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives. Entries will be accepted until Wednesday, May 1, 2019. “I am excited to have high school students from across our 4th District participate and showcase their artistic ability,” said Congressman Baird. “It’s a great opportunity for Hoosiers to visit our nation’s capital and have their talents displayed in the halls of Congress. I look forward to seeing the great work of our students this year.” The winner will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year, as well as receive two roundtrip plane tickets to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. Qualifications: Artwork entries may be up to 26 inches by 26 inches (including the frame), and up to 4 inches in depth and 15 pounds in weight. Entries should be in one of the following mediums:
There is one entry allowed per student, and all entries must be original in concept, design and execution, and may not violate U.S. copyright laws. They may also not depict subjects of contemporary political controversy, be sensationalistic or gruesome in nature. How to apply: All entries must include a Student Information and Release Form for the competition, which can be found here. Submissions can be dropped off at Congressman Baird’s Danville District Office (355 S. Washington St. Suite 210, Danville, IN 46122) during business hours or mobile office hours.
