Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) issued the following statement after the House voted to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for deliberately failing to carry out his duties and being the chief architect of the border crisis.

“Under the leadership of Secretary Mayorkas, the crisis at our southern border has become a festering wound that impacts Americans nationwide,” said Rep. Baird. “Alejandro Mayorkas hasn’t just remained silent while the dangers of an open border devastate American communities. He’s also lied to Congress and the public to hide his lack of action. I’m proud that the House has taken steps to hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable for his failed leadership and urge the Senate to begin the process of removing him from office without delay.”
