Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) released the following statement after casting his vote for Congressman Mike Johnson (LA-04) for Speaker. Speaker Johnson subsequently won the election and will go on to serve as the 56^th Speaker of the House.

“I’m very pleased that our Conference came together to elect Speaker Johnson,” said Rep. Baird. “Now that Republicans have united to select a Speaker, it is time to get our legislative priorities back on track and deliver on the promises we made to the American people.”

Speaker Johnson was selected by a vote of 220 – 209.
