Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) released the following statement after casting his vote for Speaker of the House for Mr. McCarthy:

 “For far too long, Hoosiers have struggled under Democrats’ one-party rule in Washington and have endured the ruinous impacts their big government policies have had on our way of life,” said Congressman Baird. “As we enter the new Congress and work together to ease the strain record-breaking inflation rates and this administration’s crime crisis and border crisis have had on Americans, I am confident in Speaker McCarthy’s ability to unify our party under our shared goal of erasing onerous regulations, unleashing American energy, restoring parents’ voice in their children’s education, securing our southern border, and prioritizing Americans. I am proud to have supported Speaker McCarthy in his bid for Speaker, and I look forward to working together this Congress to fight for the American people.”
