Congressman Jim Baird's Statement on Rail Strike Vote

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) released the following statement on H.J.Res 100:

“The Biden administration has known about a potential rail strike for months, yet instead of acting to avoid a strike with potentially devastating impacts, this administration shamefully passed the buck to Congress at the 11th hour,” said Congressman Baird. “Though I oppose federal intervention in contract negotiations between private parties, the consequences of a rail strike would deliver a nearly fatal blow to Hoosier farmers still recovering from previous supply chain disruptions and unhinged inflation rates. We cannot allow a small collection of unions to threaten the health of the U.S. economy and the millions of Americans it serves, which is why I voted in favor of this resolution.”
