Washington, D.C.— Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union Address:

“Tonight’s address demonstrated what the American people already know: President Biden remains out of touch with the needs of the American people. For the last year, Americans have struggled to afford everyday essentials in the face of skyrocketing inflation brought on by Democrats’ out of control spending. Across the country, business owners on Main Street have struggled to survive this administration’s business-killing policies, yet the president failed to take any accountability or offer substantive solutions. Hardworking Hoosiers have seen their financial security deteriorate; they’ve watched as Congressional Democrats have saddled future generations with insurmountable debt for partisan policies that don’t represent our values; they’ve watched deadly drugs flood through our open southern border; and they’ve watched their communities become more dangerous in the wake of anti-police movements. The American people will not allow President Biden to rewrite history by blaming his crises on the previous administration. It’s time for this administration to take accountability and listen to the American people.”
